Meetings

NEXT MEETING: March 8th @ 7:00 PM

This month, we'll look at a few options in getting a little faster access to the Internet. First, you already have Safari and Firefox....want another browser? We'll show off Google's Chrome browser (still in beta) and see what it brings to the table. Then, we'll talk a little about what DNS is all all about and why it's important to all of us when we use the Internet. There are other options than what is provided by your Internet provider and we'll discuss why you might want to use some of these other options. We'll show a little one-trick-pony utility that can measure overall DNS performance from multiple sources to show you why you might want to use a different one than what your ISP provides.

Our own Garry Margolis will talk about and demo his new portable WiFi hotspot that will soon allow him to become his own Internet Café.  This might be very useful to those of you considering a WiFi only iPad but still want to access the Internet from anywhere.

We'll also talk about a wonderful utility that can be used for IP-TV -- the newer distribution method for video feeds over the Internet. In addition, to that, we've got a few great applications that allow you to listed to IP-Radio from broadcasts all over the world. This is the kind of stuff that keeps me up at night -- and for the fun reasons!

Of course, we'll have our usual Q&A and have good time hanging out with fellow Macheads and iPhone/iPod addicts!
